Skyrim mod brings a trio of unique cursed swords with insatiable appetites for blood to Tamriel

Modders have put an awful lot of effort into making sure Skyrim has continually evolved and expanded in the years since it was first released into the world.

Many have focused on changing the game by adding fresh quests, challenging dungeons, and interesting spells to it, with a few even going as far as giving your Dragonborn the chance to receive their letters from a friendly goat courier or gain some Dragon Priest-inspired powers.

If you’re someone who’s looking for a new weapon to wield next time you hop into Tamriel and don’t fancy working on your gunfighting skills in preparation for Starfield, a recently released mod might be worth checking out.

Feel like trying to satiate the relentless bloodlust of a cursed sword next time you fire up Skyrim?

The mod in question is called ‘A Cursed Sword Experience’, and is the latest work of modder Collygon. Some of their previous projects have added a bunch of Celtic and Nordic clothing and a Peryite-themed follower called Morri to the game.

This time, they’ve decided to add a trio of cursed swords to it, which are designed to fit different play styles, but share a unique hunger-based mechanic that will add a fresh twist to your playthrough.

Coming into effect from the moment you arm your character with one of the swords, this feature will see you have to manage ‘hunger cycles’, which will see you have to satiate your blade’s bloodlust by either killing NPCs or capturing souls.

Based on whether you’ve committed enough of these satiating activities and extra evil deeds dubbed “voracious actions” to get your sword’s hunger value down to zero before the end of the cycle, you’ll either earn any negative debuffs or possibly be rewarded with some favour points that can be used to upgrade your sword or access extra powers.

Each of the swords, a blood-themed blade called Blodvitr, a soul-hungry sabre from Oblivion called Daem, and a horrific hunting armament called Heindel come with their own unique enchantments, upgrades, and ways to punish you for failing to keep them happy.

That said, all three will gradually drive your character insane as they use them, which will increase the amount of damage you take from attacks and reduce your effectiveness with regular weapons, so make sure you pick one that you won’t mind being tethered to for the long haul.
