Modders have put an awful lot of effort into making sure Skyrim has continually evolved and expanded in the years since it was first released into the world.
Many have focused on changing the game by adding fresh quests, challenging dungeons, and interesting spells to it, with a few even going as far as giving your Dragonborn the chance to receive their letters from a friendly goat courier or gain some Dragon Priest-inspired powers.
If you’re someone who’s planning on picking up a pistol and becoming an interstellar gunfighter as soon as you get your hands on Starfield, a new mod might be just what you need to cook your competition in zero-gravity duels.
Feel doing some laser marksmanship training in Skyrim ahead of Starfield’s arrival?
The mod in question is called ‘Lasers (Magicka Blasters)’, and is the latest work of prolific modder Kittytail. Some of their previous projects have given you the chance to wield an anime sword with flashy visual effects and brought Geralt of Rivia’s Witcher signs to Tamriel as spells.
This time, they’ve decided to add a bunch of Star Wars-inspired laser weapons to the game, which fire futuristic bolts of magical energy that’ll definitely take any bandits who accost you by surprise and have them wondering if they’ve just accidentally messed with an interstellar traveller.
As you can see in the showcase video above, there are eight of these guns on offer in total, with some being one-handed blasters that let loose coloured bolts to do a fixed amount of damage or stun your foe.
The others are two-handed crossbow-style armaments called plasma casters that can do a bit more harm, especially in the hands of a skilled archer.
Both sets are divided into light and heavy variants, with the former boasting faster firing rates, while the latter require some charging or reloading, so make sure to craft a weapon that’s tailored to fit your intended play style.
In order to do just that, you’ll need to head to a blacksmith forge, possibly with some precious gemstones tucked away in your pockets, as the likes of sapphires and rubies look to be what give the guns’ projectiles their vibrant colours.
If you want some better animations for the one-handed weapons, you can also grab omg1234’s ‘Simple Pistol Shooting Animation by Loop (Include standalone pistol and crossbow) - SSE’, which will transform your character into a killer left-handed shooter.
Regardless of whether you’re now trying to explain to the Freestar Rangers that your killer duelling skills were honed by taking out hordes of angry horkers, make sure to follow us for more updates on Starfield, The Elder Scrolls 6 and the interesting world of Bethesda game modding, including our top mods of the month.
