Most of the hardcore Bethesda RPG fans who’ve invested thousands of hours into Skyrim and Fallout 4 couldn’t wait for the chance to start digging into Starfield.
No matter whether you paid for early access to the game, or have joined the party following its full release, odds are, if you’ve invested in it, you’ll be spending lots of time building spaceships and getting up to wacky interstellar hijinks in the near future.
Meanwhile, modders have been, and continue to be, hard at work putting together a huge range of amusing tweaks and useful additions for Starfield. If you’re someone who likes to chat to every NPC you meet as you wander the cosmos, a new mod is definitely worth adding to your load order.
How many of the people you know are currently playing Starfield?
The mod in question is called ‘Enhanced Dialogue Interface’ and is the work of modder Seb263. Some of their previous projects have given Skyrim’s mages the chance to test their skills in magical duels and made grabbing objects in Starfield a bit more seamless.
Their latest work is aimed at revamping the game’s blocky and colourless vanilla dialogue interface, transforming it into something that’s a bit more user-friendly.
As Seb263 writes in its description, the mod “widens dialogue lines, eliminates the black background while introducing a subtle text shadow for improved readability, centres the text, and adds a semi-opaque white background when hovering over objects.”
It also “removes delays for dialogue line appearance and closure, providing a smoother and visually enhanced dialogue interaction.”
That said, perhaps the most noteworthy aspect of the mod is the fact that it’s fully customisable via an INI file, offering you “the power to adjust text size, spacing, colour, and more, tailoring the dialogue interface to your preferences.”
By following the INI file instructions Seb263 has handily included in the description, it looks like you can achieve everything from minimalistic, handwritten designs to vibrant, futuristic menus, giving you another thing you can tweak to make each playthrough feel unique.
The modder also suggests that they’ll be adding “various changes and improvements” to the mod in the future, so it’s worth keeping an eye on going forwards.
