Since it emerged from early access, Baldur’s Gate 3 has surpassed a lot of expectations, having attracted a huge amount of players keen to embark on the journey to its highest levels.
Despite some players feeling that the game needs all of its cut content back in order to reach its full potential, the general verdict on it has been extremely positive, and players have already gotten to the stage of trying out some bizarre speedruns and interesting challenges in it.
For those who are after other ways to spice up their playing experience or just tweak it to suit their liking, mods can offer everything from a customisable camera to a dice perfect for Starfield fans - or, in the case of one new work, the chance to gain items via your underwear.
Do you like the idea of filling your Baldur’s Gate 3 character’s pants with the contents of the game’s tutorial chest?
The mod in question is called ‘Pouch of Wonders’ and is the work of modder LennardF1989. Some of their previous projects have brought unlimited zoom capabilities to The Witcher 3’s world map and a save manager to Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen.
This time, they’ve granted players the ability to temporarily add an item called a “pouch of wonders” to their character’s inventory, via a spell attached to the game’s underwear slot.
Provided you’ve added items to it via a text file dubbed “POW_TT” in your game files, once summoned, the pouch will contain the goodies you’ve selected (for example, a shovel), allowing you to add them to your character’s inventory.
“There are a bunch of mods out there that allow you to get access to the contents of the ‘tutorial chest’, or other items for that matter,” writes LennardF1989 regarding their inspiration for making the mod. “The problem is, most of these mods let you go through very draconic means of acquiring them, for example by replacing your Dash or Sneak with a modded version, which you have to remove again once you are done.”
So, by using the underwear slot, they’ve designed the pouch of wonders to work in a manner that means you won’t have to unequip other important items to use it and can easily banish it from your toolbar once you’re done.
Currently, adding items to the pouch seems like it can be a bit tricky, provided you’re not intimately familiar with how the game’s text files, where the item IDs you’ll need to add specific things to it can be found, work.
At the moment, LennardF1989 seems to recommend using another of their mods, ‘Bags of Sorting’, which should make the addition process a bit easier, as explained in the mod’s comments section. They've also suggested they’re planning to work on making the process a bit less tricky.
