Modders have put an awful lot of effort into making sure Skyrim has continually evolved and expanded in the years since it was first released into the world.
Many have focused on changing the game by adding unique weapons, revamped quests, and interesting new locations to it, with a few even going as far as creating NPCs that’ll dynamically move into Tamriel's abandoned houses or fixing pesky bugs.
If you plan to pass the time while you wait for Starfield or Skyblivion to arrive by launching into another playthrough of Bethesda’s last great RPG and want to pack an extra magical punch in combat, a new mod might be worth adding to your load order.
Fancy trying out some powerful new spells next time you fire up Skyrim?
The mod in question is called ‘Abyssal Wind Magic,’ and is the latest work of prolific modder Kittytail. Some of their previous projects have brought Geralt of Rivia’s Witcher signs to Tamriel as spells, in addition to some laser blasters.
This time, they’ve decided to put together a collection of twelve wind- and poison-themed incantations ideal for any morally ambiguous mage or arcanely-gifted assassin.
These spells, all of which you can see demonstrated in the video below, will benefit from any destruction perks you might have taken.
The mod’s two different variations of hex are designed to be useful in different combat scenarios, with the wind spells dishing out gusts that’ll be deadly to lightly-armoured foes, while the poison-based incantations are ideal for wearing down foes that boast heavy protection or huge health bars.
An exception to this rule is ‘Summon Fallingstar Thrasher,’ a power which conjures up an incredibly strong creature that’ll be hostile the first time you call upon it. You’ll have to defeat this boss, aimed at characters over level 60, during that opening encounter in order to transform it into a friendly summon that’ll fight at your side from then on.
All of the tomes you’ll need to add the spells to your arsenal can either be acquired via random drops or a merchant, aside from the one for the Fallingstar Thrasher, which has to be bought or stolen from Markarth’s Calcelmo.
If you’re looking to make your mage’s armaments look even more swanky, you could also grab ‘Kanjs - Spellbreaker Animated,’ which adds some very cool visual effects to Peryite’s Daedric artefact, as you can see below.
Regardless of whether you’re now blasting or corroding your way through some helpless bandits, make sure to follow us for updates on Starfield, The Elder Scrolls 6 and the interesting world of Bethesda game modding, including our top mods of the month.
