Most of the hardcore Bethesda RPG fans who’ve invested thousands of hours into Skyrim and Fallout 4 can't wait for the release of Starfield.
Some have been passing the time until September by posting a new comment on one of its trailers every single day or trying to predict what the marketing countdown to its release might look like.
Others have been re-watching June’s Starfield Direct, searching for subtle details they might have originally missed or documenting the game’s history. Meanwhile, some modders have already begun making plans for the game, specifically with regards to fixing bugs.
Are you looking forward to seeing what modders will be able to do in Starfield?
As announced in a recent update on the Starfield Modding Discord server (thanks PCGamesN), efforts have begun to assemble a “starting team” of modders that’ll work on the Starfield Community Patch.
As outlined on its website, this project, which was originally announced last year, is “a collective effort by mod authors and the wider player community of Starfield to fix bugs, errors and other inconsistencies present in the game.” It’ll aim to rectify any “tweaks, typos and other changes that may have been missed [or not yet released] by the developers,” with the “overall goal” being “to improve the vanilla experience for all players.”
“The first [and most important] part of getting the patch up and running will be to play the game! This allows us to collect issues from both our community and the wider player base,” said Nexus Mods Community Manager Pickysaurus in the update post. They added that volunteers will be encouraged to report any problems they run into in the game here.
These reports, which Pickysaurus hopes will be “detailed and relevant” thanks to the way they’ve set up the mechanics of the website’s reporting section, will help inform the workflows of the Patch’s team.
The Community Manager identifies this as “the next major thing [the group] need to nail down,” adding that they plan to have some veteran modders involved in the project develop “some sensible guidelines for team members to follow when contributing to the patch.”
Regardless of whether you’re glad modders will be on hand to help iron out any issues that might inhibit your enjoyment of Starfield, make sure to follow us for lots of guides to its world and mechanics.
